Counselling for children and young people
Children of all ages are most welcome for counselling. Please contact me to discuss the age and circumstances of the child. Where appropriate I use life story, art, sand tray, and making things like our pets with fimo clay. The abundant nature and wildlife of the garden, and land are part of the therapy practice. We sometimes make mandalas from nature to express our world of school, family, self and resources.
For younger children sometimes the session will start outside where a child can explore and identify birds, butterflies, owls and badgers. Perhaps there will be something that is of interest, an unusually shaped piece of bark, some strawberries, a drawing that emerges from the herd of horses in the paddock. The atmosphere is truly healing in it's own right and I believe may open a non verbal avenue to explore what's troublesome in a child or young persons life. Sometimes we just talk too.
Some sessions may involve meeting with parents or carers, sometimes with the young person, or sometimes separately, and perhaps talking to other people involved in the child's world such as teachers and other agencies.
